Why Eating Less For Weight Loss is Not Enough

Eating Less For Weight Loss
Why Eating Less For Weight Loss is Not Enough It is very difficult to burn or reduce your weight, only by eating less food. Eating less only makes your body slow down. It will only burn the muscle tissues and worsens the primary cause of obesity. Burning all the muscles simply means that starving yourself leads to an increase in body fat and is not helping you lose weight. Eating less is not an Ideal approach to losing weight. Instead of just eating less, consider mindful eating.

Mindful Eating ‘Helps Weight Loss’

What Is Mindful Eating?

Mindful eating stems from the Buddhist practice of meditation. It’s not about sticking to a specific diet, or cutting back on certain foods. Instead it’s a practice that addresses your relationship with food and includes recognising appetite triggers, healthy and unhealthy food choices, and paying attention to how, when and what you eat. It means you don’t have to give up the foods you love, just eat them in a more mindful way. So maybe just having one or two bites of something you really enjoy and savouring each mouthful. The opposite of mindful eating would be ‘mindless’ eating; for example eating whilst cooking, or in front of the TV or at your desk.

On top of mindful eating, physical activity can also help in weight loss.

“Persistent increased physical activity is likely essential for long-term maintenance of weight loss, new research from participants in the US TV reality show The Biggest Loser suggests.” – Mescape, Obesity by Jennifer C Kerns, MD, of the Washington, DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and colleagues

Importance of Exercise

When you consume few calories and you are physically active, you will definitely lose weight. Nevertheless, results may vary on how much exercise your body needs, for proper weight control. Other people prefer having 150 to 300 minutes of walking. However, for people who target to lose a lot of weight, they can do more than the 300 minutes of exercise.

Weight Lifting

This is the most ideal way of losing weight. In which, most people get the results that they need. Quite a number of people will start their day by going to the gym early in the morning, or late in the evening. Lifting weight burns many calories within a short period. However, to obtain the desired result, you must be disciplined enough. Eating Less isn’t what you need to lose weight. It is mindful eating, exercise and most important of all – DISCIPLINE. Otherwise, no physical trainer, weightlifting or any supplements can help you lose all those fats if you are not disciplined enough to follow through. Discipline to eat proper foods, perform enough exercise and weight lifting and be very mindful of small habits like eating junk foods and too many sweets. Losing weight means you are willing to control your body and your life ahead. It’s a lifestyle that should be done consistently to maintain your good health. Photo by Brodie Vissers from Burst
